I’m sure the famine was still hard, even with the storehouses of supplies.
Zeroing in isn’t always the solution.
To me, “roommate” means something even stronger than “friend.”

The words didn’t seem so distant from everyday life, from the people who’d small-talk about crops over their coffee.
